HONG KONG - The mercury soared to 35.6 degrees Celsius around 1:40 pm at the Hong Kong Observatory on Tuesday, matching city’s highest temperature ever recorded for June and setting a new record for the hottest day so far this year.
Hong Kong has been experiencing very hot weather since Saturday, when the city logged what was then its hottest day of 2025 at 33.6°C, even as the Observatory said it was considering issuing the No. 1 typhoon warning signal on Wednesday morning due to a tropical cyclone edging closer to the city.

On Monday, temperatures hit 33°C while the Observatory warned about the prolonged hot weather and advised the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and seek medical attention if unwell.
